First thing I noticed after I launched the new browser is that none of my old plugins are compatible with Firefox 3 beta. I'm hoping it won't be a major deal for plugin developers to get their plugins up to speed. The plugin authors will now have to use the FUEL javascript library which is brand new in FF3. I've always wanted to make a plugin, maybe this is my shot.
Instantly I was reminded of Safari because of the sheer speed and slick, more trimmed-out interface, whoa. You click on a link and it's like, you're instantly taken there and the page is loaded with a single flash. Definite improvement already. The other thing I noticed right off the bat was more user-friendly auto complete on URL's. Sort of difficult to explain that one but it shows the title of the website along with the full URL.
Lastly, there are a few features I haven't been able to try out yet. As a developer these are by far the most important improvements. CSS Improvements, DOM improvements, and Javascript Updates just to name a few.
By the way, I renamed the new firefox app to Firefox_3 and put it in my applications folder so I could continue running my old version of firefox along with the new one. Not at the same time though, just fyi.
OOPS! Almost forgot to give the link: Firefox 3 Beta, get some.
