Code for the Youtube thumbnail getter
I had some questions on the Youtube thumbnail getter project I did for fun a few days back so I wanted to post the code. Take it, use it, do whatever you want with it, just don't blame me if it breaks the internets. :-)

In short, nothing. There is no santa, get the message out to all of those kids out there. To help, I made this very special website. http://whatissantabringingmeforchristmas.com.

Ping.fm + Custom URL = mobile photo blog
Yeah, get that? Remember when I wrote an ugly little script that allowed for posting to a mobile photo blog from my sprint phone? Yeah, it was really ugly but it worked... sometimes.

Project: Youtube thumbnail getter thingy
Ok I'm past due for one of my silly projects, so here it is. A youtube thumbnail getter. I was working on a job recently where getting different thumbnails was necessary to accompany each posted video.

Use xmodmap to remap keys on Apple Aluminum Keyboard
Ok, another problem I've been having, and this has been fairly consistent through any Linux distro. I'm an Apple user, therefore I'm used to the Apple keyboard layout. I use Command, not Control. Here's a fix on how to remap your keys so you can still have the luxury of not breaking your fingers to hit the control key.

Transferring a .vdi VirtualBox machine on Linux
I'm far from a Linux pro, let's get that out in the open. I'm quite the opposite actually. But I found a solution to a problem that was bugging me today and I thought someone else may stumble on this and find help. All GUI baby!

Quest marketing commercials in St. Louis
My wife and I are always on the look out for these late night Quest commercials. It's not that uncommon for us to rewind and laugh as we watch them over and over, lame I know. I had to bust out the video camera on this latest commercial so I could share w/ my St. Louis peeps. Lets all laugh together.

Quick jQuery fun project
I had some fun w/ a small jQuery project the other day. MikeonTV is a friend who hangs out in the #ping.fm channel and here is his tumblr. See the top? Yeah I really liked that and wanted to gank rebuild it using jQuery, so I did. And that's that.

A Letter from the King of Winghaven
A pretty hilarious thing happened last week in Winghaven and I almost missed it. A letter was sent from the City of Winghaven telling all residents that they are not to have political signs in their yards. Apparently someone on my street, hereto known as "The King of Winghaven" wrote up a reply and stuck it in everyone's mail box. And now I share it with you.

Project: Rick Roll URL Checker
Well it seems that Rick Rolling has reared it's ugly head again, at least in IRC. So I thought I'd take a few minutes (10 to be exact) and write up a little "Rick Roll Checker".

Enable Line Numbers in CFEclipse
I've been terribly annoyed with an issue with Eclipse / CFEclipse lately where line numbers are not showing up by default. Oh, and the option to enable them in the preferences is not there either. This becomes a problem when, you know, you're trying to work. ;-) I found a quick and dirty solution to enable line numbers.

Make your product photos pop with a white background using photoshop
It's the goal of every photographer to do as much "in camera" as possible such as cropping, exposure, lighting etc. The more you do in camera the less time you spend in photoshop which means the faster you can produce your image. However many times, even after the extra in-camera-effort, the photo still needs a little love in photoshop to make it just right.

How to disable disqus comment voting / clout control
There's been some back and forth on the comment rating and clout surrounding the disqus commenting system, which I use and happen to like. I found a quick and dirty solution to hiding the voting arrows on your site using jQuery.

Reuse - Drawer organizers from a pizza box
Our junk drawers were outta control. Since we moved in to our new house the 4 drawers on the island in the kitchen were a mess. Sarah and I went drawer organizer shopping only to find them to be a little overpriced.

I just had to post this real quick. It's my Firefox download day certificate. Doesn't really do that much for my geek status but still. I downloaded it on 3 machines.

1st bike ride with new mountain bike
Let's get this out in the open: I'm out of shape. I want to get back into shape so for father's day Sarah bought me a brand new mountain bike. Just owning the bike isn't enough so I went for a bike ride this morning. I learned a few things...

I spent two hours at the Sprint store yesterday waiting in line for the new Samsung Instinct. I was one of the lucky recipients of the pre-screening email which meant I could get the phone a day early.

Post to ping.fm from your widget dashboard
I discovered something sort of a cool today after Sean at Ping.fm added a new feature. Ping.fm now allows you to "pop-out" the posting window sort of like when you're in gmail and you want to chat in a new window. Anyway you can also add this pop-out to your dashboard, here's how.

Our impatience and the real people behind social web services
Tonight, not even thinking it through, I made a comment on Twitter about how I was starting to like disqus (link) less. I said it not really even thinking about it and a few minutes later @danielha one of the founders of disqus asked why. It hit me, whoa... behind all of these free web services are real people. What?

Openfire: iChat with MSN using your locally hosted Jabber server
Did you know? You actually CAN use iChat to talk with your MSN buddies. I use MSN for business and it always urked me to have multiple clients open. Adium did the trick for awhile but I really like how iChat integrates with the other OS X applications.
