Caps - Schlafly No. 15

Time for another Caps entry. This time I'm keeping it local with my favorite brewery of all time: Schlafly. This No. 15 brew is the tool I use to get people in the door and it even got Sarah to start trying (and now liking) beer.

The brewery was built in the former Swift Printing Company building in downtown St. Louis. the Swift Company moved out in 1969, and the building remained vacant until renovated for the St. Louis Brewery in 1991. The brewery produced its first beers in 1991, with the official public opening on December 26, 1991. The first batches of pale ale and wheat beer were available only in draft form for purchase at a pub on the premises.... [source]

The Schlafly No. 15, named for their 15th year anniversary, pours as a hazy amber color with a nice banana, clove and citrus taste. It has more fruit flavors than the standard lemon/apple but I can't put my finger on them. Schlafly (wiki) No. 15 is a good thirst quencher and isn't overly filling. I'm not a big winter beer fan, and this is no winter brew, but it has hints of spice like those found in a winter brew, if that makes sense. In fact, it's a great summer beer enjoyed with a few friends while bbq-ing in the back yard.

I would highly recommend this beer on tap if you can! It's very well carbonated and keeps true to the German style wheaty flavoring. It's still delicious out of the bottle but tastes different, my wife agrees (so that does it!).

If you're in the midwest, hold out for the tap, you can get it most local eateries and pubs here in St. Louis. If you'd like to find a place near you that is serving Schlafly see Where to find Schlafly Beer on their website.

From Schlafly.com about their 15th anniversary ale.

Our 15th Anniversary Ale! A medium-bodied amber-colored ale with a delightful wheaty flavor and a fruity, spicy finish.

You can even get their Beer To Go and pick up a nice glass growler, great for a picnic or outdoor gathering.

I highly highly recommend this beer, A+

PS. Although this is only my second entry in this series, you can find all of them here for future reference
