Sasuke consists of four stages the competitors must complete. The thing that makes this show really interesting is the participants. Most of them are amateur athletes from Japan and even American gymnists (and olympic medalists) the Hamm Brothers. The stages increase in difficulty, and all but the 3rd Stage have a time limit.
My favorite is Makoto Nagano - a 35 year old fisherman who spends 300 days a year at sea. He is only the 2nd man (out of 2000 contestants over the past 10 years) to complete all stages of the competition.
Another favorite is Shingo Yamamoto - a 32-year-old gas station manager from Tokyo, he is the only person to have competed in every Sasuke competition, and the only person to attempt the first and second version of the Final Stage. He competes wearing his gas station work uniform.
